Ramsa Chaves Ulloa, Ph.D.

Born and Raised in Costa Rica, a country famous for both its conservation and sustainable development, I understand that economic development does not need to come at the expense of the natural world. In fact, if done thoughtfully, development projects can minimize their negative impacts on the environment and use the incorporation of native wildlife as a marketable brand differentiator.

Zak Gezon, Ph.D.

As an ecologist with experience in conservation biology, community ecology, and pollination, I am particularly interested in the ways that human activities affect plants, pollinators, and their interactions. An avid naturalist and outdoorsman, I love fieldwork and field experiments, but I don't feel that research is complete without rigorous data analysis and mathematical modeling. My guiding philosophy is to use field biology to answer questions about how human development may affect aquatic and terrestrial systems, and work to promote sustainable, place-based development.
